Red Mesa Elementary Students take time out from learning about space in Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix, AZ – On April 26, Red Mesa Elementary School students recently attended the AZ Challenger Space Center. They were able to see flight crews, mission controllers, and scientists to fly a simulated space flight mission.

The Challenger Space Center’s Technology Flight Deck featured over $1 million in technology, including a Mission Control room designed after the Johnson Space Center.

A simulate room on board the International Space Station was also on display as a simulation of what astronauts have to go through. They also, had a Earth Space Transit Module, which transports teams of crew members up to dock with the ISS so they can live and work in space.

The students also attended the 3rd Annual Field Trip Fun Day at the US Airways Arena where they learned about the weather and space program that was presented by the Valley’s top meteorologists. They were also entertained by the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Sun’s mascots.
