Navajo President takes fire
During the Navajo Hopi Riders event, honoring fallen Warriors, it was reported by spectators and local media outlets, that President Shelly lost his balance and the bike toppled over and was seen driving recklessly, local riders said he almost hit ‘the pack’ of bike riders.
“He should not have been on a bike,” said Leon Curley, a road guard for the annual event. “He was not prepared and he did not listen to instructions.” nonetheless, Mr. Shelly said “I’m here for the veterans,” he said. “I’m here to remember the veterans, to honor them, especially those who did not return.” reported the Daily Times.
Witnesses also said, “at our final stop at Tohatchi Chapter, President Shelly caused yet another pile up of bikes by the cattle guard” it was said the President borrowed Raymond Maxx bike. We tried to reach his communications director, Erny Zah to see if the President was okay.
All in all, the Navajo Hopi Veterans ride is held every year to Honor Native Warriors, the three day ride ended Thursday evening, May 17.
