Navajo Post close to it’s 1st Edition Newsprint

By: NP Intern/A.Lee Tempe, AZ | The Navajo Post | May 28

Mesa, AZ – The Navajo Post is a new brand of news that is only featured online, but it will soon be printing its first edition newspaper this summer. It will focus on stories from the Navajo Nation to local Native American news from the Valley.

“Right now, I am focus on getting this newspaper printed; I worked really hard to come to this point and to just give up, would be a mistake. We are not backing down from making this happen. I want to create this newspaper for my people and community.” said Alexander Chambers, publisher of the Navajo Post.

The Navajo Post launched in Dec. 1 of last year, the idea started in 2010, in a bizarre fascination for newspapers “For some odd reason, I am fascinated with newspapers. I’ll buy a newspaper from every store or in different languages, One day I was walking through Sky Harbor International airport and I remember I spent $20 at a news stand.”  Adding, “I don’t know if that is normal, but I guess if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” said Chambers.

The newly created online news site, will have competition like the Navajo Times, Gallup Independent, and others that have dominated the area for decades, but the Navajo Post hopes to one day garner that same respect “I personally respect all other newspaper outlets, but my publication will have it’s own unique brand, we will have our own niche- that I think will resign ate with the community and my readers.” said Chambers.

The Post is currently online, Mr. Chambers said when the official first news print edition is printed, they will go exclusively to a subscription base platform “for just pennies a day, our members will be able to access all of our news platforms, web, digital, and print, which will be more exclusive and interactive for our readers.”
