EXPENSE REPORT: NM State Rep. Ray Begay Lies to a News Reporter

“I got other stuff to do” said New Mexico State Representative Ray Begay as KOBF TV 12 Investigative Reporter, Gadi Schawartz questioned Mr. Begay, after he lied on his expense report to get more money from the State for his travel reimbursements.

Expense reports show Begay received $418 for mileage from the Department of Finance. He also received another $765, or $153 per diem for five days, and $425 for conference registration fees.

New Mexico Attorney General is now looking into the matter.
Begay has been in office since 1999 and is currently the ranking member of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee in the New Mexico State Legislature, he serves District 4 in San Juan County New Mexico which covers the northern part of the Navajo Nation.
