Baking Company will provide 300-500 New Jobs in New Mexico

Wages at Western Baking Corporation will average $14.50 per hour

ALAMOGORDO, NM – Governor Martinez and Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela recently meant with Western Baking Corporation officials to announce the creation of 300 to 500 jobs at the company’s new facility, according to the Western Baking for the next three to five years people will benefit from the new jobs.

Wages at Western Baking Corporation will average $14.50 per hour. Western Baking is a cookie and cracker manufacturing company that has invested more than $15 million to reopen the former Mariette Biscuit plant and will provide private label baked goods to retailers across the country.

New Mexico has a 6.5 percent unemployment level, as of Sept. 2012. Gov. Martinez has made an effort to stimulate small businesses in New Mexico by providing more lower taxes and incentives for companies to stay or move to New Mexico.
