PHOENIX – Just months after being reelected, a campaign has launched to recall the Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpoaio- an effort lead a political organization Respect Arizona.

Respect Arizona said, “If you agree with us that winning an election does not excuse or make right the wrongs that have occurred under Sheriff Arpaio’s leadership, please sign a petition, donate today and get your friends and family involved.” they said on there website.

As for the Sheriff, he said in a email to his followers “Just three weeks after I was sworn into office for a sixth term as Maricopa County Sheriff, a group of radical extremists filed a recall campaign to forcibly remove me from office,” the sheriff said as he slammed the group.

The groups has less than four months to acquire 300,000 signatures for the recall to move forward. No further details were given.
