NAVAJO NATION WOMAN WINS

 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Kansas Begay, 24, from Fruitland, N.M. takes the Miss Indian World title at this years Gatherings of Nation powwow.

Begay thanked her supporters, “Ahe’hee’ Dine Nation and friends and family for all your support and prayers!! I am so honored.” she said on her facebook page.

She also got to meet Natalie Portman. The Miss Indian World is a competitive pageant consisting of different indigenous people from all over America. Last year, Jessa Rae Growing Thunder, 22 of the Sioux Nation took the crown, who lived in Durango, Colo. 

Begay is a member of the Navajo Nation.
