Super Tuesday, delegates up for grabs

Weekly Edition | March 6, 2012 | By: NP writer

The Political Hot Sheet.

Super Tuesday is underway, political experts say 20 percent of the delegates to the Republican convention will be chosen on Tuesday night. In this case, Mitt Romney will be the likely nominee, but politics sometimes has a few surprises. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have a lot on the line as well- they could loose, but won’t drop out as quick giving Romney a fight to stay ahead in the polls.

Former first lady Barbara Bush, the GOP establishment came out swinging against Santorum and Gingrich- backing Romney and calling this election ‘the worst in her lifetime.’ it is clear Romney has a favorable momentum after winning Michigan, Arizona and Washington.

Since Super Tuesday primaries are held in a gigantic number of states from geographically and socially diverse regions of the country, Super Tuesday typically represents a presidential candidate’s first test of national electability.
