COMMENTARY: Kirkpatrick is supported by a Who’s Who of Washington special interests

On Monday Aug 6, Republican congressional candidate for district one, Jonathan Paton held a tailgate townhall in the city of Holbrook to commemorate the three year anniversary of liberal Ann Kirkpatrick walking out on her constituents.

The townhall was held from the back of a pickup truck across the street from where Kirkpatrick walked out.

“One of the issues in this campaign is that we have a Washington political insider named Ann Kirkpatrick who is beholden to liberal special interest groups and doesn’t want to face her own constituents,” said Paton.

Kirkpatrick is supported by a Who’s Who of Washington special interests, including the SEIU union that boycotted Arizona. Less than 1/3 of Kirkpatrick’s campaign funds in the last quarter were raised in Arizona.

Paton added: “I make a promise to the people of this district today: I will never walk out on the state of Arizona, I will never walk out on a townhall, and I will never walk out on you.”

Kirkpatrick has continued refusing to answer public and unfiltered questions from the voters and the media, skipping out on a recent candidate forum hosted by the White Mountain Democrats, the Maricopa Monitor, and an upcoming television debate on KUAT.
